The Republicans want to give the Government More power to wage war and protect/ Dems More power for social?

programs More Government power for Better schools and medicine etc. Are we Giving the Government Too much Power? Both sides handing it bit by bit? I mean If the Dems Gave all that power to the next Dem Government wouldn't the next GW Be more Dangerous? And the Republicans More power to enact a war make a Socialistic Democrat More dangerous?
