If I buy farmland in Scotland, how can I get planning permission if the property is'nt for agricultural use?

If you mean that it's agricultural land but YOU will not use it as agricultural land then you will have problems getting planning permission for anything other than agricultural purposes. If you get planning, it will probably have an agricultural tie to it, meaning that you can only live on the property (if its a house you are after) if you are using it agriculturally. Thats the way it works in England anyway. You are best going to your local planning authority/council and enquire what the likelyhood of getting the type of planning you are after.
